Dining on the Estate

Tsala's cuisine is exceptionally prepared in the glass-walled dining area for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For those who wish to soak up the sun, the unique dining deck, which hangs above the forest floor, is the ideal location to enjoy a cup of coffee, a hearty breakfast or a lazy lunch.

Chapel in the Forest

Whale & Dolphin Watching

The finest way to appreciate these magnificent sea creatures is by boat with a knowledgeable guide who can educate you about the significance of such animals in nature's balance.

Dolphin Season - In summer you have a very good chance of spotting the rare, gregarious Humpback Dolphins found only in certain areas along the South African coastline. Bottlenose Dolphins and Common Dolphins are also probable sightings. Here, you'll be taken to the Robberg Seal Colony, which is home to approximately 5,000 noisy, fun-loving seals in their natural habitat.

Whale Season - In the winter, there's a good chance you'll see the Southern Right and Humpback whales. Again, the Robberg Seal Colony (home to around 5000 seals) and other sea creatures of the day are included on excursions.

Birds of Eden

Birds of Eden is a world-class free flight bird sanctuary located on the Garden Route. The huge two-hectare dome (the World's largest) spans over a gorge of indigenous forest, overlooks an abyssal canyon and is sanctuary to a wide range of birds that may be observed up close.

Birds of Eden was created to provide a secure location for the release of a large number of free-flight African birds and tiny monkeys.

You are free to explore the aviary at your leisure, and no guide is required, so you may spend as much time watching the birds as you like.

Monkeyland

At Monkeyland, visitors get the chance to observe these remarkable creatures that remind us so much of ourselves.

On the guided safaris you can expect to see a variety of primates, ranging from the Gibbons of Asia to the Lemurs of Madagascar. The knowledgeable rangers will tell you about these fascinating mammals as you encounter them roaming free in the forest. They also point out, identify and explain the many wonders of life in the forest, from the rich diversity of bird life to the intricate workings of the forest itself.

Swim with the seals

If you looking for a fun ocean adventure, this is for you. This exciting adventure allows you to snorkel with these fun loving creatures, watching them playing and frolicking in the waves.

This tour is a first for Plettenberg Bay. It's an experience that will make you appreciate the ocean's beauty and extraordinary creatures even more.

Sailing

While dining on an opulent platter and sipping a glass of South African sparkling wine, take in the beauty of the Knysna Heads with a sunset cruise aboard a luxury yacht.

Sailing on the magnificent Knysna Lagoon in the Garden Route is an experience you will never forget. Out past the Heads and toward Buffalo Bay, where you will see breathtaking rock formations, caverns, pelagic birds, whales, and dolphins that are unique to this internationally renowned Eden.

Boat Trips & River Stand Up Paddling

The Plett and Knysna lagoons are two of South Africa's most beautiful waterways. Relax and enjoy the area's stunning natural beauty on a relaxing boat trip through the Keurbooms River.

Stand-up paddle board through the deep ravines & indigenous forest on the quiet beauty of the Keurbooms River with the call of the Fish Eagle and the flash of the Knysna Loerie (Turaco) overhead for company.

Golf

There are several great, and PGA-endorsed, golf courses in the region for the avid golfer. The opportunity to play these golf courses, which were designed by some of the world's best golfers, including Ernie Els, is well worth the effort.

Horse Riding

Feel the grass and shrubs brush past you, take in the fresh air around you, and listen to the sounds of Africa. Take a ride through the forests and hills of the region or visit a local nature reserve on horseback to see some of Southern Africa's wild animals.

Cycling

The Garden Route has excellent road cycling terrain, waterfront views, and off-road tracks, allowing you to make your own customised sightseeing trip while getting some exercise.

For people looking for a little off-road adventure, there are several mountain bike trails in the Knysna and Plettenberg Bay regions. Cruising around Plett on two wheels provides a whole new perspective, whether you bring your own or hire once you get there.

Hiking & Robberg Nature Reserve

Hiking the national parks, beaches, and trails is one of the greatest ways to appreciate the natural beauty of Plettenberg Bay. Pack a picnic and go on a day trip to Robberg Nature Reserve or one of the gorgeous trails in Nature's Valley or Kranshoek Coastal Walk. If thats not for you, go for a walk through indigenous woods, along one of Plett's Blue Flag beaches, or head out to Tsitsikamma and take one of their winding beach paths.

The Robberg Nature Reserve, which is located eight kilometers south of Plettenberg Bay, is both a nature reserve and a national monument. The region's rocks date back 120 million years to the formation of Gondwanaland and several caves on the peninsula have revealed evidence of middle and later Stone Age habitation. The 800-hectare reserve extends 1.8 kilometers offshore, providing protection to a variety of threatened fish species. In season, you can anticipate to see beautiful scenery, thrilling dolphin and whale sightings, a wide range of bird species, and the resident Cape Fur seal colony.

Surfing

Plettenberg Bay is not only one of South Africa's most beautiful bays, but it's also one of the best surfing spots on the Garden Route.

The beaches of South Africa provide some incredible rides for experienced surfers, while those interested in learning have access to some of the best surf instructors in the country. These instructors will give you a well-planned program that will get you riding in no time.

Beach Walks

The Garden Route's stunning beaches include some of the world's most beautiful Blue Flag sites. Plettenberg Bay, in particular, has some of South Africa's finest sandy beaches, boasting over 20 kilometers of charming Indian Ocean shorelines.

Plett’s beaches have been named Africa's finest beach destination for the past five years in a row. There are six Blue Flag-approved beaches in Plett, including Robberg 5, Lookout Beach, Keurboomstrand, The Dunes, The Singing Kettle and Nature's Valley.

Kayaking

Participate in a kayaking tour of Plettenberg Bay and enjoy the sea while gazing up at the regions stunning mountain scenery and dramatic coastlines.

Kayaking with an experienced guide from Central Beach to Robberg Nature Reserve your guide will introduce you to Robberg Nature Reserve and it’s wonderful marine life in the bay. During whale season you may encounter these majestic mammals on your tour.

An alternative unguided option is to river kayak on the Keurbooms River venturing up the gorge to Whiskey Creek. Perhaps take a picnic with to make a full day of it.
